1. What products are included into „A Healthier Family“ product group?
The products of „Nematekas“ marked with a sign of „A Healthier Family“ are as follows: Probio“ product line, „Jokių E“, „Mažylių“, „Nr.1“, „Pieniškos“ sausages. These are healthier products, containing probiotic cultures and other susbstances that are important to human organism.
2. You propose that your company produces a healthier food. In fact, sausage and other smoked products are not the most healthy products whatsoever. What is the basis for your referring to food produced by your company as „a healthier food“ ?
The technologists of „Nematekas“ in cooperation with the scientists of Food Institute of Kaunas Technological University, create a more healthier, functional food, i.e. containing no „E“ additives or with minimal quantity of it, with probiotic cultures. Such products are referred to as functional food and are included into the category of a healthier food.
We also apply the most modern technologies which ensure the production of a healthier food as well. For example, no smokehouse of our company uses open fire; beech wood is not burnt, but grated, consequently a light permanent smoke doesn‘t leave any carcinogenic substances in a product.
3. What is a functional food?
A functional food means food into which biological substances are added or excluded from it in the process of production. Its consumption ensures purposeful positive physiological effect on human organism. A functional food meets all the requirements of correct nutrition, physiological needs of human organism and maintains optimal health and helps a person to feel well.
4. What are probiotic cultures?
Lactobacillus, probiotic cultures are used by „Nematekas“ for the production of meat products. This culture is also referred to as bioprotection culture. Probiotic cultures are live ingredients of food of biological origin distinguishing for their positive physiological effect. They fight infections in human organism, strengthen immune system, renew microflora of an organism, have positive effect on intestine system, reduce gastric acidity. Probiotic cultures remain effective in meat products till their expiry date. .
5. After listening to some producers advertising their products, it seems as if soon we will be able to undergo treatment with sausages ...
No, sausages are not the right cure for diseases, however a healthier food contributes to feeling better and having less health problems.
6. What are the advantages of "Jokių E" ("E free") sausages compared to other cooked sausages?
"Jokių E" sausages contain no preservatives, meat substitutes nor any additives. The production of this kind of sausages was a real breakthrough in food industry. These sausages may be given even to 6 months old babies, when their first teeth come out.
7. What are special qualities of "Mažylių" ("Small Kids") sausages ?
These sausages are intended for children from 3 years old. It is the only kind of sausages in Lithuania produced with iodine salt. By maintaining the highest quality of the sausages and conducting the direction of a healthier food, „Mažylių“ sausages contain only 2 additives, i.e. vitamin C and sodium nitrite which had been used even by our grandmothers in sausage production process.
8. What ensures the high quality of food produced by your company (is it technologies or raw materials)?
The quality of our products is ensured by technologies as well as by raw materials, and, what is most important, by the experience of our employees. Our best technologists have been working in „Nematekas“ since the first day of its establishment, therefore they are experts in their work for sure.
„Nematekas“ has started its activities as a supplier of modern technologies for meat processing. Consequently the company‘s experience in applying these technologies in Lithuania is the greatest one. Every year „Nematekas“ spends about 2 million LtL on renovation of its production, formation and packing lines. We purchase the most modern production, processing and prepacking equipment exclusively from reliable manufacturers that have certificates of the EU. The majority of our equipment was made in Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
Besides, the quality of products is ensured by our thorough control of raw materials supplied from stock and poultry farms.
9. Who are the suppliers of raw materials? Can you be sure about their quality?
The raw materials for „Nematekas“ are supplied by several stock and poultry farms which belong to the trust itself. We have been in cooperation with them long before. The Quality Assurance System of raw materials from the producer‘s farm has been implemented in our company. Besides, we have been on business relations with our suppliers for ten years already, and they are very well aware of our requirements for quality.
10. What is the difference in smoke-dried sausages of extra, first and second quality?
Smoke-dried sausages of extra quality must contain no less than 18 percent of meat proteins, whereas sausages of first quality – no less than 15 percent, and sausages of second quality – no less than 9 percent.
The amount of fat in sausages is unlimited. The sausages of first and second quality may contain no more than 2 percent of albuminous meat substitutes, and the smoke-dried sausages of extra quality may not contain any meat substitutes. |
