Cold smoked  and dried sausages

Cold smoked and dried and cured sausages are made from pork, beef, etc. They distinguish for their good taste, smell of smoke, therefore they remind of the best traditional Lithuanian smoked sausages.  Yet our sausages are of better quality compared to the ones made by our grandparents, as the most modern technologies are being used in the production processes. For example, no smokehouse of our company uses open fire; beech wood is not burnt, but grated. Consequently a light permanent smoke doesn‘t leave any carcinogenic substances in a product.

 

Besides, „Nematekas“ applies drying, a special product processing technology. Drying provides specific flavour, exceptional aroma, the product becomes easily digestible. Considering the fact that this sausage doesn‘t undergo the process of smoking, it is protected from carcinogenic substances. 

 

In 2000, “Nematekas” was one of the first companies in Europe and the only one in Lithuania to start using probiotic cultures, biologically useful ingredients, in the production of cold smoked and dried sausages.  Probiotic cultures mean naturally extracted active elements. In the process of smoking, they act as catalysts, i.e. ripen the sausage. Therefore no preservatives are added into this product. The sausages are a sort of products made following ancient recipes and in the course of time the taste of the sausage improves.

 

Many of "Nematekas"  Probio line products were awarded for their excellent taste and attractive appearance: "Vikingų" ("Viking") dried sausage was recognized the Product of the Year and awarded the Gold Medal in 2005, and "Prūsiška" ("Prussian") cold smoked sausage was awarded a title of the Lithuanian Product of the Year in 2004.
